Modern Rites – Endless is the sound of machines breaking down in slow motion, while someone screams into the void hoping to be heard — but knowing they won’t be. It’s bleak. It’s massive. And it’s everything you’d want from a collision between industrial metal weight and black metal soul.
This project brings together two serious minds in extreme music: Berg (guitarist of Swiss atmospheric black metal legends AARA) and Jonny Warren (multi-instrumentalist and the throat behind KUYASHII). Together, they craft something totally unique — part mechanical punishment, part melodic black metal descent, and fully charged with philosophical fire.
With Endless, Modern Rites crank the intensity to 11. Riffs are jagged and low-slung, layered with pulsing industrial textures and harsh-but-clear vocals that scream about cognitive dissonance, personal collapse, and survival in a world gone numb. The production is massive — Simón Da Silva (The Empty Hall Studio) handles the mix/master, delivering a huge, balanced sound where every icy tremolo and blastbeat feels deliberate and precise.
Lyrically and visually, the album dives deep into modern funerary symbolism, loss of identity, and existential dread — but not without moments of defiance and clarity. Tracks like “Null”, “Path to Truth”, and “Complicity” blend desperation with furious momentum, pulling you through the darkness toward something that might resemble hope… or maybe just another layer of ruin.
