Master’s self-titled debut album is a cornerstone in the history of death metal. Originally recorded in 1985 but shelved due to label disputes, it finally debuted in 1990, delivering a raw and unfiltered sound that has influenced countless bands in the genre.
The 2017 reissue by Hammerheart Records presents the album on 180g black vinyl, packaged in an embossed sleeve with a printed inner sleeve, enhancing both its visual and auditory authenticity.
Tracks such as “Pay to Die,” “Funeral Bitch,” and “Terrorizer” highlight Paul Speckmann’s gritty vocals and aggressive bass lines, complemented by relentless guitar riffs and pounding drums. Additionally, the inclusion of a cover of Black Sabbath’s “Children of the Grave” pays homage to the band’s roots while showcasing their unique sound.
This reissue is a must-have for collectors and fans of old-school death metal, preserving the raw energy and pioneering spirit that Master brought to the scene.
